Herpes Simplex Virus Genotyping in Neurological Abnormalities-Clinical Relevance for Disease Monitoring

After the first (primary) infection, HSV, like other herpes viruses, remains dormant (latent) in the body and can periodically reactivate and cause symptoms [2,3]. HSV infection causes recurring episodes of small, painful, fluid-filled blisters on the skin, mouth, lips (cold sores), eyes, or genitals [4,5]. In the current study, characterization of HSV genotypes 1 and 2 in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in the patients with Viral Meningitis and other Neurological Disorders cases were studied.
